Souper Bowl of Caring

Tackle Hunger on February 5

This year, SPY and the 2012 Confirmands’ Class are teaming up to tackle hunger on Sunday, February 5 as part of the Souper Bowl of Caring. Following each worship service, youth will be running a zone defense outside the Sanctuary to collect money that will benefit two Little Rock organizations: Stewpot and the UAMS Family Home. Help us score a compassion touchdown by coming to worship prepared to support your team with a monetary donation!

Stewpot and has been operating for over 30 years at the First Presbyterian Church in downtown Little Rock. It provides lunch to those in need and gives a folks a brief reprieve from the outside weather, be it the harsh cold temps during winter or the blistering heat in the summer. Stewpot will prepare over 40,000 meals this year. Stewpot feeds approximately 150 people every day. Our donation will help them obtain the food they need to accomplish this daunting task.

UAMS Family Home is a facility that provides affordable lodging in a homelike setting for cancer patients and parents of premature infants being cared for at the UAMS Medical Center and provides a cancer support center where education, fellowship and nurturing can take place in a supportive atmosphere. Our donation will be used to purchase food for meals for the families being served by UAMS Family Home.
