2nd Presbyterian Family Retreat

September 13-15

Ferncliff Camp and Conference Center

Celebrating the rhythm of life’s calendar of events and connecting our stories to the story God has always been telling

Advent and Christmastide are seasons that are approached with both excitement and dread by adults and children alike. Many families are so overwhelmed by the strains that these seasons place on their time and their finances, that they have little margin left for celebrating at home. Most of us have wonderful intentions to do things differently this year, but when the time comes we find that we are once again under-prepared and overextended. This year, we want to come alongside and help with both of these challenges. At this retreat you and your family will be able to create your very own “Holiday in a Box” kit, complete with activities, crafts, and recipes that will help your family celebrate at home through highly personal (but non-stressful)  modern traditions from Advent to Epiphany. Author Jerusalem Jackson Greer, will lead families through this creative process, and will share her experiences as a busy, working mother, trying to integrate expressions of faith into her family’s home life.

Retreat Leader: Jerusalem Jackson Greer is a writer, crafter, nest-fluffer, speaker, farm-gal wannabe and author of A Homemade Year: The Blesings of Cooking, Crafting and Coming Together. She is a regular contributor for the At Home in Arkansas Blog, and both her home and her work has been featured in a variety of local and national publications. Jerusalem lives with her husband and two sons in a 1940s cottage in Central Arkansas with an ever-changing rotation of pets, including a hen house full of heritage chickens and a Hungarian Sheep Dog mutt.  As a family, they are attempting to live a slower version of modern life.  She blogs about all this and more at jerusalemgreer.com
