Upcoming Family Milestone Ministry Events

Milestone #3—“Praying Together”

Children in our three-year old Sunday School class (and four year olds who missed this last year) and their parents are invited to participate in this milestone activity.  This celebration will take place during the Sunday School hour (9:50-10:50 a.m.) on Sundays, April 12 and 19. The children and their parent(s) will participate in activities especially designed to provide opportunities to learn about and practice a variety of prayers— prayers of thanksgiving, confession/forgiveness, prayers for others, etc.  Activities will include songs, stories, games, and art.  The class will provide hands-on faith practices to be used in the home for years to come.

Milestone #4—“ Worshiping  Together”

This milestone celebration is designed for Kindergarteners and their parents.  A special workshop, “Get Ready, Get Set, Worship” will take place during the Sunday School hour (9:50-10:50 a.m.) on Sundays, May 3, 10, & 17.  In this special time together the children will learn about our Sanctuary and the parts of our worship services.  Each family will create a “worship bag” with activities to help little ones participate in worship in a more meaningful way.  Learning will be fun as we explore worship through games, songs, and creative activities.

Milestone # 5—“Caring for Others”

The aim of this milestone designed for 2nd graders (and parents) is to help children discover that they are ready to become partners in reaching out in love to God’s world and to understand their call to serve Christ through service to others.  This celebration will include a lock-in for Second Graders and a family mission experience for their families.  The lock-in will be Friday, April 24. We will begin with a pizza party at 6:00 p.m. for the children and parent(s).  Following dinner, parents and children will participate together in a variety of activities that will explore our call to Christian service until about 7:30 p.m.  The children are invited to stay for additional games and activities and to spend the night.  On Saturday morning we invite the families to join and participate in one of the service projects that will be part of our all-church “Day of Service.”
