School Events |
 |
Once again we are planning some fun
activities to help our children get excited about
coming to Sunday School this fall!!! We often hear
that children are reluctant to come to Sunday School
because they don’t know others in the class, haven’t
met their teachers, etc. So- on August 15 and 22
we will host “class parties” for each age-level so
that the children can meet each other and make
friends before Sunday School begins again on August
29. We hope parents will attend the parties also to
get acquainted with each other!! Mark these dates
on your calendar and plan to be part of these fun
events!

FELLOWSHIP
MINISTRY SPONSORS TRIP
TO MURRY’S
DINNER THEATER
SUNDAY,
SEPTEMBER 26 ♦
5:30 P.M.
$25 per person
includes dinner, show, tax, and tip
Reservations and money need to be in to the church office by
Sunday, August 29. Buses will be available for those who need a
ride from the church.
Set in
the 1930s, this musical tale introduces the singing Sanders
family, who perform their traditional and bluegrass gospel songs
for the members of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Mount
Pleasant, NC. Pastor Oglethorpe welcomes the family to the
church, where their individual stories and beliefs are shared
during the concert. The audience serves as the members of the
congregation.
The score
of Smoke on the Mountain consists of almost thirty
gospel tunes, all of which could have been performed at the time
by such a group. There is a pleasant mixture of energetic
rousing numbers, plaintive hymns, and soulful praise songs. The
songs vary from the well known, such as "Amazing Grace" and
"I'll Fly Away," to the more obscure ones, such as "Filling
Station" and "Christian Cowboy".
Hallelujah! Join us for this foot-stompin’, banjo-pickin’,
bluegrass gospel musical comedy, where the hymns, hilarity and
homemade treats will surely make a believer out of anyone!
Make your reservation by submitting the form below.
