  1. TITLE: DIRECTOR OF YOUTH, YOUNG ADULT, AND YOUNG FAMILY MINISTRIES
  2. PURPOSE: To provide vision, leadership and support for the church’s ministry to youth and their families, to young adults, and to families with young children.
  3. ACCOUNTABILITY: To the Pastor as Head of Staff and to the Session.
  4. RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. To envision, develop, and maintain an active ministry with and to youth and their families, young adults, and families with young children, emphasizing spiritual growth, education, worship, music, mission, and fellowship.
    2. To supervise, provide leadership for, work closely with, and delegate responsibilities to a team of part-time staff working with youth and their families, young adults, and families with young children.
    3. To collaborate with this team to administer a wide variety of programming with youth, young adults, and families with young children, including, but not limited to:
      1. Overseeing the Middle School and Sr. High Sunday School program (in consultation with the Church Educator).
      2. Organizing, planning and promoting youth, young adult and young family trips and retreats (Director will participate in some, but not all, of these trips).
      3. Providing leadership for the annual youth musical and supporting the youth music ministry.
      4. Maintaining contact with Second Presbyterian College Students and providing opportunities for them to reconnect with one another and the church when they are home.
    4. To serve as staff resource person to ministries and teams related to youth and their families, young adults, and families with young children.
    5. To provide ongoing training, nurture, and guidance to volunteer leaders of these ministries.
    6. To build relationships with youth and their families, young adults, and families with young children, offering them guidance and support.
    7. To act as a role model for the young people of the church and community.
    8. To take time annually for Continuing Education and networking with colleagues in youth, young adult, and/or young families ministries.
    9. To participate in service to the larger church and promote positive relationships with the Presbytery of Arkansas and the Presbyterian Church (USA).
  5. RELATIONSHIPS: To work in close cooperation with the Pastors, Church Educator, Music Director, and other members of the Program Staff; to attend staff and Ministry meetings, as well as Session and Diaconate meetings where required.
  6. EVALUATION: Performance reviews will be conducted annually by the Pastor and the Session’s Personnel Committee. The Personnel Committee will annually review the adequacy of compensation and make recommendations to the Session.
