A GREAT BIG THANK YOU!
A tremendous thank you to all the youth who waved their flags and served as Acolytes during the Kirkin’ o’ the Tartans during yesterday’s worship services:
Kit Meinke, Emily May, Noah Adams, William Willoughby, George King, Ian McVinney, Emma Fike, Erik Meinke, Dillon Coker, Turner Lloyd, Ben Bryles, Will Standridge, Irma Ellis, Mary Carol Majors, Meredith Majors, Alexia Denza, Destaney Dueguid, Anderson Bass, Katie Hagemeier, Lauren Gann, Chris Honeycutt, Alex Honeycutt and Baker Wells.
You all did a marvelous job, especially considering how early you had to get up to be at church on Sunday morning. Thank you also to all the parents who got their kids to church on time!
PRAYER REQUESTS:
If you have Prayer Requests that you would like to include in the eLoop, please email them to me by Tuesday of each week.
Continued prayers for Sharon Otwell as she is treated for cancer.
Prayers for Lynn Walters as she undergoes testing for some health issues.
HAPPENING THIS WEEK:
- SOUPER BOWL OF CARING – February 5 at 8:30, 9:00 & 11:00 Worship
This Sunday SPY tackles hunger! At each worship service, we will be collecting money to help provide shelter to the homeless, food to the hungry and compassion to those in need. Many of you have signed up to help collect donations already. If you haven’t and would like to help out, just show up to one of the worship services and look for the other youth with the big ol’ soup pots. If you have any football gear (jerseys, pads, helmets) wear them so you’ll be more visible. We could especially use more youth to help at the 9:00 Worship Service.
- SUPER BOWL PARTY – February 5 from 5:30 till the end of the game.
Go Giants! Go Patriots! Go Commercials-for-cars-that-totally-rip-off-beloved-movies-from-the-1980’s! Go Advertisements-with-talking-babies-and-choirs-of-barking-dogs! Whoever you are cheering for, you are invited to join us for a Super Bowl Party, and encouraged to bring a friend! We’ll meet at the youth building at 5:30 for food, fun and football!
- CHURCH LEAGUE BASKETBALL – Games This Week
Cheer on the Second Presbyterian Church Basketball Team at these games this week:

All games take place at the Pulaski Heights United Methodist Gymnasium.
COMING UP:
- SPY SUNDAY – Hearts! January 12
Partner up with your favorite Valentine for a fast-paced game of HEARTS! Will you and your partner risk it all and crush your opponents, or will fate leave you heartbroken and wipe out your score? We’ll gather at 5:30pm for dinner in the Youth Building. Program ends at 7:30pm. Bring a Friend!
- YOUTH @ PRESBYTERY – February 17 – 18
The Presbytery of Arkansas invites High School Youth to spend a fun-filled weekend with other youth from all over the Presbytery at the next Presbytery Meeting. “Youth At Presbytery” is an overnight event at Lyon College. It’s an opportunity for you to weigh in on the issues facing the Presbytery and see our church government in action. There will also be a Ghost Tour. (Yes, you read that correctly, a Ghost Tour!) To register for this event, please do two things. First, email dougwalters@secondpreslr.org and let Doug know you want to go. Second, print and complete this registration form: www.secondpreslor.org/youth-at-presbytery Drop it off to the Youth Ministry office at the church as soon as you can.
OTHER STUFF TO KNOW ABOUT:
- PARENTS – WE NEED AN ACOLYTE CAPTAIN FOR FEBRUARY
We are looking for someone to volunteer as Acolyte Captain for the month of February. Each week, the Acolyte Captain is responsible for arranging for three youth to carry the cross, bible, and flame as part of the processional during the 11:00am Worship Service. It’s not all that hard to do, it just requires a couple of phone calls or emails each week to identify some youth to fill these roles, and being at Worship on Sunday at around 10:45am to help them get into robes and make sure the lighter works. You can do it. Really, you can! So email dougwalters@secondpreslr.org today and say, “I’ll be the Acolyte Captain for February!”
- SPY SUNDAY STANDARD TIMES CHANGE FOR JANUARY – MARCH
During “Youth Musical Season” the standard times that Middle School and High School SPY meet are adjusted so that we can accommodate Youth Musical rehearsals. In January, February and March, Middle School and High School youth will gather on Sundays at 5:30pm in the youth building for dinner. Our Sunday night SPY program for both Middle and High School will begin at 6:00pm. We will conclude our evening’s activities and youth will be ready to be picked up at 7:30pm.
Peace,
