SPY (Second Presbyterian Youth) Upcoming Events – Join Us!

Seussical Update:

Our rehearsals for the Second Presbyterian Youth (SPY) youth musical, Seussical, are going strong!  Our cast of over 46 people is meeting every Wednesday and Sunday for practices, and having workdays to help build the set on Saturdays.  We’d love to have anyone who’d like to join us on Saturdays from 9-3 to help build/paint/move sets so we can be ready for the show in time for March 4, 5 and 6th!  Tickets for the musical are already available through cast members: Reserved tickets and tickets in the narthex will go on sale on February 7th.

SPY Updates:

Second Presbyterian Youth (SPY) is getting ready for a fun winter/spring!!  In addition to the musical, we will have a Bible Breakfast on January 28th at 7 am at Panera on Cantrell, we will be doing the “Super Bowl of Caring” mission project,  we will be putting together college care packages, and having a “blacklight dance” for Valentine’s Day.  You should have received brochures about summer trips in the mail: please pay attention to when deposits are due for summer trips to Mo-Ranch (Jr High) and Montreat (Sr High)!  We also have some CRAZY fun stuff happening in Sunday School – January and February’s Senior High Classes are being taught by Mark and Marcy Doderer, and the Junior High continues to be with Heather Rey, doing the “re:form” curriculum.  If you haven’t been to Sunday School in a few weeks, this is DEFINITELY the time to check out what we’re doing!

Souper Bowl of Caring:

On February 7th, SPY (Second Presbyterian Youth) will be participating in the “Souper Bowl of Caring” National Mission Project.  This project involves youth around the United States, working to fight hunger and poverty in their own communities around the time of the Super Bowl football game.  On Super Bowl Sunday, our youth will be standing out in the narthex with “soup pots” with the logos of the two opposing teams on them.  You can put donations for the team you hope will win the Super Bowl, and – this year – all of the proceeds in the soup pots will go to Stewpot; to help the hungry here in Little Rock.  The following week, we will report in the bulletin which team actually “WON” (financially) the Super Bowl here at Second Church!
