Help Decorate Our Outdoor Christmas Tree

Since we can’t be inside the church with our tree and wreath, we brought them outside for us to enjoy. You are invited to add weather resistant ornaments that we can keep to the SPC outdoor tree that expresses hope, faith, joy, peace, and love throughout Advent. Add ornaments directly on the tree and drive by at night to check out the lit tree and advent wreath. Contact Jen Evans if you have any questions.

Hope – Week 1: November 29 – December 5
Some of us see only darkness this time of year. Some of us find life overwhelming. Some of us are filled with Advent joy. Wherever we find ourselves today, add an ornament that reminds us that our hope is in God.

Faith – Week 2: December 6 – December 12
We live in a do-it-yourself culture that celebrates the individual. But faith is not something that we can do on our own. We need companions on the journey; we need others to support, strengthen, and encourage us. We learn to trust that someone has our back as we make this journey of faith. Add an ornament that depicts what faith looks like to you.

Joy – Week 3: December 13 – December 20
Too often we think joy is something big: A choir concert or parades can certainly bring us joy. This year many of us are finding joy felt in a safe visit or telephone call with a friend; we can see joy as we notice people wearing masks or hear it in laughter Add an ornament that signifies the simple joys that peak into our lives daily.

Peace – Week 4: December 21 – December 24
We need peace in our lives, our homes, our families, our church, and our whole world. Add an ornament that shares with our community to slow down and seek out the peace God provides, so we may become peacemakers for ourselves and others.

Love – Christmas Day: December 25
We have learned to love from being loved by God. Let us enact that love by illuminating the light of Christ. Let us live that love. The world needs more love. May we remember the depth of God’s love for each of us as made visible through the Christ-child who was born in darkness in a simple stable and share that love with others. Add an ornament to the tree that expresses God’s love for all.
