The aim of this milestone celebration is to help children discover that they are ready to become partners in reaching out in love to God’s world and to understand their call to serve Christ through service to others.
This year’s celebration will include a lock-in for Second Graders and a family mission experience for families. The lock-in will be Friday, November 9. We will begin with a pizza party at 6:00 pm for the children and a parent. Following dinner, parents and children will participate together in a variety of activities that will explore our call to Christian service until about 7:30 pm. The children who wish will stay for additional games and activities and spend the night.
On Saturday morning we invite families to join us for a trip to Heifer Village (at the Heifer headquarters downtown). We will leave the church at 9:30 am to arrive at Heifer Village at 10:00. We are scheduled for a “scavenger hunt” through the exhibits of the village…..then we will participate in their “Heifer Hour” activity. It will be a learning and craft activity designed for parents and children. We should be finished about 11:45 am. This will provide us with a wonderful opportunity to learn about mission and outreach around the world.
