Short-Term Sunday School Series on Earth Care, November 6-20

November 6 – 20, 2016
Second Hall

God loves the world and instructs humankind “to till and keep” the earth—meaning not to exploit it, but to respect and preserve it. What are Christians called to do to tend God’s creation? How does loving our God, and our neighbor, relate to caring for, as Pope Francis calls it, our common home? During November, Second Presbyterian Church will consider how we are called by the Bible and by our God to do all we can to protect our environment, which is God’s precious creation.

  • On November 6, Dr. Jay McDaniel of Hendrix College will give a presentation titled, “Eco-Theology: The Greening of the Church.”
  • On November 13, Dr. Robert (Bobby) Williamson, also of Hendrix College, will talk about what we can learn from the Bible about earth care.
  • On November 20, the Reverend David Gill will share his personal spiritual journey, which has led him to being passionate about earth care and environmental leadership.

All members and friends are invited to participate in this class.
