Three special opportunities for adults who enjoy “being creative” will be available during the decorating hour during Hanging of the Greens:
Color Advent Posters: Room 61
Help us celebrate the beauty of Advent by coloring a series of large devotional posters for display during the season! The joy and simplicity of the act of coloring helps us to be still, wait, prepare, and receive the good news of the incarnation. Grab a marker, pencil or crayon and help us create a truly communal effort of celebration.
Prayer Shawls Make and Take: Room 60
Join the Prayer Shawl ministry to knit or crochet a shawl (or bring a project of your own) and learn more about this ministry of Pastoral Care. Completed prayer shawls will also be available for any member to take and deliver to those in your lives or the community who need to be wrapped in prayer during the holiday season. Do you know someone who is struggling with a medical condition or a feeling of loneliness? Prayer shawls are crafted with love and steeped in prayer, including a special “commissioning” blessing, and include a lovely card that describes the purpose of this ministry and our hopes for the recipient. Enjoy the camaraderie of those who also enjoy yarn crafts and meet a few new friends.
Adult Ornament Making: Room 67
For those of you who envy the messy, creative fun our children get to have at Hanging of the Greens…we have just what you need! Sarah Burns will lead an ornament-making activity for adults. While you are making ornaments for our tree in the West Entrance you will have the chance for fellowship and making new friends!
