Adult Sunday School

Adults Growing in Faith

Discover many ways to nurture your faith life. In addition to Adult Sunday School, you’ll find opportunities at times other than Sunday morning such as Bible studies, book discussion groups and more.

We have two types of Sunday classes:

Short-term Courses: These are courses, which last four to eight weeks. They are designed to meet the needs of adults who are not part of a permanent class and to address topics on a short-term basis.

All adults are invited to move in and out of the short-term courses and ongoing classes in a flexible way to meet individual needs.

Ongoing Classes: These classes meet on a regular basis and seek to develop a permanent class roster and deeper relationships. Some classes use study materials produced by The Presbyterian Church, and others choose books or topics which change periodically throughout the year. All classes strive for elements of study, community and fellowship. All are invited to visit these classes at any time without an obligation to join. Please feel free to try out any class; new members are welcome at any time.

These classes meet Sundays at 9:50 a.m. in person and most via Zoom.

Second Hall Short Series

4-6 weeks

Rethinking Church: Our Good Future Beyond More Things To Do

Led by Rev. Dr. Ben Kane

February 4, 11, 18, and 25

Join us in February to discuss how the church today can reframe our “current church crisis” to stop the endless cycle of

doing more and rather to simply “be” in God’s presence. Using  the book When Church Stops Working, Rev. Kane

offers affirmation, encouragement, and empowerment on what active waiting looks like and the saving grace it can hold.

Coming Up Next!

In March, explore some of our most important and personal questions surrounding how to end life well in the series The Gift of Love: Getting our Affairs in Order, led by Rev. Alisa Secrest, Malinda Kirchner and several guest speakers.

March 3Life and Death Matters: Justin Wittenberg, President and Manager, Ruebel Funeral Home;

March 10What is Hospice? Dr. Neal Wyatt,  Hospice & Palliative Medicine;

March 17Peace & Possibilities:  Practical Preparation for End of Life, Rev. Alisa Secrest and Malinda Kirchner.

March 24Basic Financial and Estate Planning in a Nutshell, Jim Hyden, J.D. LL.M. and Ryan Holder, CPA.

Permanent/Ongoing Classes

Permanent

These classes meet together regularly throughout the year and have a permanent class roll. (Please know additions can be made at any time.) Some of these classes use study materials produced by the Presbyterian Church, and some classes choose books or topics, which change periodically throughout the year. All of the classes strive for elements of study, community, and fellowship. All are invited to visit these classes at any time without obligation to join.

All adults are invited to move in and out of the short-term courses and ongoing classes in a flexible way to meet individual needs.

These classes meet Sundays at 9:50 a.m. via Zoom and in person.  For more information, call the church office at (501) 227-0000.
