“The Church Transforming”

Something new from the Adult Education Ministry…..and invitation for the whole congregation to read a book “together” and gather to discuss and explore the reading.  The book selected for this adventure is “The Church Transforming,” by Michael Jinkins, President and Professor of Theology at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary.  Dr. Jinkins will be our guest for the Lyon Lecture Series to be held on November 17-18.

With a lively and engaging style, the essays in Jinkins’ book explore some traditional understandings of what it means to be a Reformed Christian and the challenge us to examine what it means for us to live our faith in today’s world.  He takes some clichés about Reformed faith, turns them inside out and shows us how much creativity and hope Reformed Christians have to offer a fractured culture and suffering world. You are invited to participate in one or more of the following groups gathering to study and discuss Jinkins’ essays:

•  “The Church Transforming”  –  an Adult Sunday School class led by Steve Hancock, Henry Goodspeed, and Karen Akin

Sundays, October 6 – November 10  9:50 – 10:50 a.m. in Room 65/66

•  Connections Café – A Young Adult Sunday School class led by Camille LeBron Powell
