Two new Short Term Adult Sunday School Classes – April 27 – May 25

“How to Stay in a Relationship without Going Crazy” (Leaders: Howard Turney, MSW. Ph.D and Rebecca Fuller Ward, MSW. LCSW)  It’s finally here…..the long-awaited class for couples of all ages in all stages!!! In this course, based  on Rebecca Ward’s  book How To Stay Married Without Going Crazy, participants will learn to navigate and negotiate the  complex emotional and relational issues in marriage.  The course will provide concrete solutions through topics such as communication, time and money, conflicts, confrontations, and collaboration.  Rebecca Ward has a special interest in marital and family therapy and has specialized in relationship therapy for over thirty-five years.  Rebecca and Howard have a joint practice and teach couples courses at the UAMS Psychiatric Research Institute.  While the book was written and the course designed for married couples, the issues and principles should be applicable to any in committed relationships.  Books will be available for $10.00 in the church office and in the classroom when the course begins.

“Conversations with the Confessions” (Leaders:  Karen Akin, Jeannie Ford, Lindy Vogado, Steve Hancock, Camille LeBron Powell) The Book of Confessions, while admittedly not on the “best seller” list, continues to be a wonderful source of wisdom to deepen our faith in Christ and inspire our faithfulness.  One of the identifying marks of Reformed Christians is the use of confessions to state foundational commitments of faith.  The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) is unique in that we do not have a single confession of faith, but rather a collection of confessions.  Through these creeds and confessions are common themes—expressed in different historical and cultural contexts—which provide the contemporary church with rich material for significant conversation about the shape of Christian faith and life today.  We invite you to join in a fresh “conversation with the confessions,” discovering the riches of theological truths and rich insights and exploring Christian faith and life today as shaped by our confessional heritage.
