Elephants and Apple Picking, Saturday, October 4, 9:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

We will gather at the church at 9:30 a.m.  on Saturday, October 4 for a day outing to the Elephant Sanctuary and an orchard, both north of Greenbrier, Arkansas.  Please bring a sack lunch, and $10 per person for the cost of visiting the Elephants and picking apples at the orchard.

We will drive to the Elephant Sanctuary and begin our day of learning and fun there.  Riddle’s Elephant and Wildlife Sanctuary was established by Scott and Heidi Riddle in 1990 on 330 acres in the Ozark Mountain foothills as a non-profit home for elephants. Major goals of the sanctuary include the care of the resident elephant herd, but also elephant conservation in general, helping to ensure the long-term survival of these magnificent and highly endangered species. We will meet two African female elephants, Amy and Miss Bets, as well as two Asian elephants, Peggy and Betty Boop.

Following our trip to meet the elephants, we will travel to a nearby orchard, Cadron Crest Orchard, where we will eat our picnic lunch and have the opportunity to pick apples.  Drinks and ice will be provided for our picnic lunch.  We plan to return to the church around 3:00 p.m.
