Wednesdays Together is an opportunity for folks of all ages to gather for four evenings of fun, fellowship, and growing in faith. Classes/Activities for Adults

Lenten Prayer Opportunity

Location: Sanctuary

Lent is a season of introspection and prayer…a time to make time and make space to prepare for the glorious celebration of Easter. Each Wednesday during the season of Lent the Sanctuary will be open for a time of prayer, meditation and reflection from 5:00-7:30 p.m. Each week there will be a printed guide with scriptures and hymn suggestions to guide your meditation, the stained-glass windows will be backlit to encourage meditation on the life of Jesus, and there will be other hands-on opportunities for reflection and active prayer. So come—as individuals, or as families to take advantage of this opportunity to grow in prayer and to grow through your Lenten journey.

During Wednesdays Together you are invited to spend time in the Sanctuary prior to the dinner hour or to spend the class/activity time in the Sanctuary in prayer and reflection. The Sanctuary will be open for this prayer experience February 21 & 28 and March 7, 14, 21, and 28. On February 14 Lent will begin with an Ash Wednesday worship service at 6:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary.

“My Mind Is Clearer Now”

Jesus Christ Superstar From a Different Perspective

Leader: John Landis
Location: Second Hall

The Tim Rice/Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Jesus Christ Superstar was controversial when it was first released, even banned by the Roman Catholic Church as being blasphemous. It certainly caused people to look differently at the events and characters in the Holy Week story. Join us for this Wednesdays Together Series in which we will look at the creation and background of the musical…a new perspective that may change what you take from the experience of the film.

The class will be led by John Landis, an ordained minister who has participated in the stage show hundreds of times (acting in every role, as director, and as musical director). He will facilitate an exploration of the show, its writers and its messages. The sessions will include a look at scenes from the show, scripture passages, insight into the writer’s intention and a discussion of what might be learned.

Class for Younger Adults

“Get on the Energy Bus”

Leader: Rich Evans
Location: Room 65/66

Have you ever looked at your life and thought, “I want more”? Have you found yourself less than excited about your work, home-life, friendships, relationships, children, hobbies, personal interests… what about God? Consider your perspective. And what you are bringing to “the table.” Then, come and explore these principles for building a positive culture, energy, and success in your job, family, or other organizations in which you may participate.

Based on a video presentation by Jon Gordon, participants in this class will explore and discuss 10 powerful principles, best practices, and insightful stories from his best-selling book The Energy Bus. This is a fun and easy read that’s even better with the opportunity for discussion. So join us, and hop on the bus! Books available at Amazon.com or contact Jeannie Ford, jeannieford@secondpreslr.org or (501) 227-0000.
