First and Third Monday Morning Women’s Bible Study

Spring is “springing” and plans are underway for a four-week study in April and May. All are invited to gather together to study and discuss the book The Lord’s Prayer for Today by William J. Carl III. We have enjoyed studies from this series in previous years (The Beatitudes for Today, Ten Commandments for Today, etc.). The Lord’s Prayer for Today seems particularly appropriate for the Lenten/Easter season and this series has proven to be an engaging group study resource.

In this volume well-known preacher and seminary president (and brother of Debbie Freeman, former minister at Westover Hills Presbyterian) William Carl interprets the prayer in light of how it was understood by Jesus’ disciples and examines the significant role the prayer can play in the life of Christian believers today. This book has been described as “a delightfully compelling blend of biblical scholarship, solid theology, and rich storytelling.” Readers will be able to go deeper than they ever have before into the meaning of ‘the shortest and yet most profound prayer ever prayed’.”

The book will be available in the church office on Sunday, March 24. The cost is $10.00. The class will meet in Second Hall at 9:30 a.m. with the following schedule:

April 1: Chapters 1, 2, 3 (pages 1-22)
April 15: Chapters 4, 5, 6 (pages 23 – 47)
May 6: Chapters 7, 8, 9 (pages 48 – 67)
May 20: Chapters 10, 11, 12 (pages 68 – 93)
