Outreach & Mission

Called as Partners in Christ’s Service
One of the ways that our congregation answers God’s call to love God and neighbor is through our Outreach ministry.
Each year, over 25% of the money given by our church members goes to support organizations and agencies outside the walls of our church. Along with providing financial support to over 35 mission partners, our church members also share their time and talents with these organizations to help care for the most vulnerable in our community.
From local meal ministries to our international partnership with the Presbyterian Church in Honduras, there are numerous opportunities for service in the life of our congregation.
If you would like more information about volunteer opportunities in our community, please contact Rev. Lindy Vogado, Associate Pastor for Outreach.
Our Partners

Afghan Welcome
In 2021, our congregation became the congregational sponsors of two Afghan refugee families who are being resettled in the Little Rock area.
Our church members have helped connect these families with food, shelter, housing, education, and employment, and there are numerous ways to help support these new neighbors in our community.

Bale Elementary School
For over five years, our congregation has served as the school partner for Bale Elementary School located on 32nd Street near the UALR campus.
Our church members serve as tutors and classroom readers, provide support for school-wide special events, and coordinate special activities for school staff during Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week.

Stewpot
The meal ministry Stewpot has moved to a new location at the Salvation Army (1111 W. Markham Street). Stewpot serves lunch five days a week to guests in need of food, and Second Pres is its largest congregation donor. Since this ministry began, it has served over 1.5 million meals to our neighbors.

Our House
Each month our church members cook and serve dinner for individuals and families living at Our House, a shelter that provides housing, childcare, career counseling, and other support for the working homeless in our community.

International Partnership
Our congregation, through the Presbytery of Arkansas, is in covenant relationship with Presbyterian Church in Honduras.
Our church members frequently travel to Honduras to work along side our Honduran siblings in Christ, and leaders in the Honduran Presbyterian Church have also visited our congregation, leading programs and joining us in worship. Our congregation provides yearly support to Dori Hjalmarson, a PC(USA) mission coworker, serving in Honduras, and our church members have gone on several trips with Solar Under the Sun to install solar power installations to provide underserved communities with electricity.

Ferncliff Camp and Conference Center
Our congregation participates in a variety of programs at Ferncliff Camp and Conference Center, and our church members contribute numerous volunteer hours to the camp.
There are weekly opportunities to assemble relief items at the Disaster Assistance Center (DAC) or work on building projects with the “Over the Hill” gang.
Ferncliff provides a wonderful opportunity to spend time in the great outdoors!
